Gold vermeil (pronounced ver-may) involves a highly skilled technique of electro plating. Each handcrafted .925 sterling silver piece is finished with a thick layer of high quality 18kt gold resulting in a durable, nickel free and hypoallergenic metal.
Our gold plating process takes place here in Australia withholding a standard of 2.5 microns on earrings, studs and necklaces and 4 microns on rings.
Here are a few common questions we get asked about our gold vermeil.
Does your jewellery tarnish?
Our gold plated jewellery will not tarnish as all metals used in our fabrication are stable, pure metals. However, it will eventually fade back to silver depending on how often you wear them.
Can I wear them in the water?
Yes. Our jewellery can be worn in the shower and the ocean. We do not recommend contact with chlorine as it is highly reactive to the sterling silver within causing the metal to oxidise. We advise that you remove your gold plated jewellery to prolong the longevity of the gold.
Can I get my jewellery re-plated?
We offer a re-plating service for all Kerry Rocks jewellery pieces. Please email us at hello@kerryrocks.com.au for a quote.
